Angkor Wat and Cambodia

// March 25th, 2010 // No Comments » // Cambodia, Uncategorized, travel tips

I just returned from Siem Reap, Cambodia on a 2 day trip.  Let me just say it was AMAZING! Siem Reap is a charming city, full of great cafes and a French Colonial feel.  I was surprised at how clean the city center is.  There were moments I couldn’t believe I was in a Third World Country.  I’ve been to a lot of places and would rank Cambodia in the top 5.  I can’t wait to go back and explore more.  Angkor Wat Temple, which is only a few miles from the city, is truly a wonder.  No wonder its been named one of the Seven Forgotten Wonders of the Medieval World.   Video will be available very soon.

Thai Elephant Trek…Mahout Style

// March 10th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Uncategorized, thailand, travel tips

Talk about an amazing experience!  My friends and I learned how to ride an elephant like a true Mahout (a person who looks after and drives an elephant.)  There were no baskets…we were one with the animals.  This was all thanks to the folks at the elephant camp at the Anantara Resort and spa near Chiang Rai, Thailand.  This facility is unlike any other I’ve seen:  5 star service, wonderful people and amazing animals.  This was a true treat!

Fish Massage In Thailand. You Gotta Try It

// March 8th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Uncategorized, just cool, travel tips

I flew 18 hours non-stop from Los Angeles to Bangkok, had a 2 hour layover, then flew another hour to Chiang Rai (in Northern Thailand) all to experience a Thai Massage.  This wasn’t what I had in mind but was worth it!

US Airways Bonus Miles Promotion Is Back (Thru March)

// February 3rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized, airplanes, frequent flyer, travel tips

A few months ago, I told you how US Airways was offering a 100% bonus on purchasing and/or gifting miles through its website.  Why is this a big deal? Let me break it down to you like this.  If you buy 50,000 points, you get another 50,000 points for free. And 100,000 points is enough for a business class ticket to Europe (if the reward seats are available.) Now, it’ll cost you roughly $1375 to buy those 50,000 points and get the 50,000 point bonus. But considering a business class ticket to Europe can run 4x that amount, I’d say its a good deal!  (Just make sure the seats are there first.)  Here’s the link to buy the miles.  Your account must be open for at least 10 days so if you are interested, start by opening up a US Airways frequent flyer account.  Remember: YOU DON’T HAVE TO FLY ON US AIRWAYS.  YOU CAN USE YOUR POINTS TO FLY ON ANY OF THEIR PARTNERS: LUFTHANSA, SWISS INT’L, UNITED, ANA, SINGAPORE AND AIR NEW ZEALAND ARE JUST A FEW.

Eat Some Food; Earn Some Points

// December 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // Uncategorized, airplanes, frequent flyer, restaurants, travel tips

Did you know that you can hook your credit card up to something called the Rewards Network and earn frequent flyer miles every time you dine out (at participating restaurants?)  It’s fast and free and easy.  And if you are a foodie like me, you’ll see your mileage account balances going up, without even realizing you were dining at a participating restaurant.  Example: I’ve got my United Visa card signed up to the United Dining network, so not only am i earning points by charging on the card, but i’m also earning points for having signed up with the dining network.  And by ordering some sushi at a restaurant up the road, I earned points.  You don’t need to have a frequent flyer earning credit card either.  Any will do.  And several airlines participate.  Just click the link above to find out.

100% Bonus For Buying or Sharing Miles On US Airways

// November 28th, 2009 // No Comments » // airplanes, frequent flyer, travel tips

This is a great deal.  US Airways is allowing you to buy up to 50,000 miles at 2.5 cents a mile and you will get another 50,000 miles for free.  So basically for $1,250 + 30 (processing fee) you get 100,000 points.  That’s enough for 2 coach tickets to Europe, or 1 business class ticket to Europe.  Click here to find out more.  This deal is only good until the end of December.

For years Orlando, Florida has been synonomous with Walt Disney World.  But Orlando is filled with so much more! It’s a growing city full of young energy, hip nightlife and great restaurants.  It’s also a place where Earth and Space collide.  The Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Stations are full of history and excitement!  Next week, NASA launches Space Shuttle Atlantis (STS-129) on what will be one of the last missions for the spacecraft. Information on tours of the Kennedy Space Center can be found by clicking here. Mrjetsetter.com will be in Orlando next week and hopes to bring you a report from the launch!  In the meantime, enjoy this video found on YouTube from a past launch.
