Tips For Traveling In Style And Saving Money
I received a very nice email from Nina in Texas, who, after seeing a video I put together on Austin and the SXSW Festival (South by Southwest), decided to make the journey there herself. Here’s what she wrote:
“Thank you for convincing me to go to SXSW. I went and had a blast! Make sure you come next year so we can all meet up and have a dandy time.. sincerely – nina.”

The weekend has come to an end and so has the 2009 South By Southwest music festival. We saw some great bands and met some amazing people! Take a look (and a listen.)
The folks at the Sheraton Austin could not have been nicer. As a Platinum Starwood member, they upgraded me to a huge suite. Unfortunately, there were problems with the hot water throughout our entire stay. They tried and tried to resolve the water issues — to no avail. And for our troubles I was pleasantly surprised at the incredible customer service — we were comp’d a night’s stay. Kudos for good customer service! Job well done!
I have always wanted to go to Austin for the mere fact I have never heard a negative thing about it. In fact, everyone I have ever spoken to (who has been there) has raved about it: “I could totally live there,” the common response I’ve heard about the Texan capital. And it’s not just one person saying that but a lot of people!
So I’m in Austin to see what all the hype is about during the city’s largest music festival — South By Southwest.
